The Revolutionary War started in 1775, and ended in 1783.The war was fought for American colony’s freedom from the British rule. King George (the “ruler” at the time), was making the colonists pay many taxes. The colonists had to pay taxes every time they bought tea, sugar, and EVEN PAPER! It was bad, Very bad, but what made the colonists even angrier was that they had no say in the British Government! They couldn’t even vote against the British government! A colonist named James Otis made up the saying, ¨No taxation without representation is Tyranny”. This meant that a ruler, (like King George) who would do things like this is unfair. In the year of 1774, the Parliament of Great Britain passed really, really, bad laws. This was after the Boston Tea Party, where a few colonists from Boston dressed up as Mohawk Native Americans and snuck aboard the Dartmouth, a British tea ship. This was all thought of by John Adams while he was in a bar called the Boston Tavern! So, they snuck aboard the Dartmouth at night, and dumped tea worth more than $1000 (which was a lot at the time) into the Boston Harbour. The colonists had to pay for the tea that got dumped. This leads us to the Intolerable Acts. During the Intolerable Acts, there was another law passed that colonists couldn’t have meetings anymore in their houses or anywhere!.Soon there was another law passed that he British Soldiers can stay in their homes! Then, the British came and tried to capture the colonists’ supplies, like gunpowder. So the colonists found out about it, That was what the Midnight Ride was all about. and that’s how war got started in Lexington. The Tesla Vehicles
The Tesla company had many different cars. These include the Tesla Roadster, Model S, Model X, and the Model 3. Both are similar and different from each other. In 2008 - 2010, they started releasing the Tesla Roadster. It was the first legal car that was all electric, Lithium-ion battery cells also being the first all electric car to travel more that 200 miles (320 km) per charge. The 2nd model is the Tesla, Model S. It’s a luxury liftback. It was introduced in June 2012. One of the features it has is it has a glass cockpit, The instrument panel and control areas appear on high resolution screens. Another feature it has a aluminum body. It’s lightweight and has no possibility of rust. Model X is a 7 seater car. Another item that this car offerers is called the big sky. This is where the windshield of the car is extended above the front seats head. So when the people look up there is a clear view of the sky. A cool part of the car are the falcon wings. These are the names for the 2 rear passengers doors. They call it falcon wings because rather than the doors opening outward like a traditional car these doors open upward. Model 3 is not out yet but, lets cross our fingers and hope it meets our expectations and it is not the lat Tesla vehicle. An added bonus comes with Tesla models. There is an Ipad in the middle of the two front seats. You can use it for a GPS. Also to see behind your car, just to be safe. Tesla Inc. The Tesla Inc. ( A.K.A The Tesla Motors) is an automaker, energy storage company (an example of this is the company makes electric cars), plus a solar panel manufacturer. Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning were the Tesla company’s founders. Even though Eberhard and Tarpenning are the company’s founders, Ian Wright, JB Straubel, and Elon Musk are considered as the company’s co-founders. The company's vehicles are: The Tesla Roadster the first electric sport car, Model S the electric luxury Sedan, Model X the crossover SUV, and hopefully not the last, the Model 3. On December 2016, the estimation of how many car Tesla has sold was 186,000 cars. That’s a lot! Tesla manufactures Tesla batteries such as 21-70 cell batteries. Tesla also manufactures Tesla powerwall, powerpack (rechargeable batteries), and solar panels. As you now know, the Tesla vehicles won't move by gas, but electricity. If almost everybody gets the Tesla vehicles, no more gas pollution, Earth!! Are Video Games bad for your brain? You would probably say “yes,” but have you looked into the possibility that video games could be good? People have been saying video games make people dumb and some violent games can turn kids violent. But can’t they be good for you in some way?
Studies have showed that preschoolers who play physical video games like Wii,Wii Fit, Wii Sports and all those similar, have been shown to be better at kicking, catching and throwing than the preschoolers who have not been playing video games. A study in Boston showed that surgeons who played video games were 27% faster and made 37% fewers errors.Video games are shown to help a few parts of the brain including the frontal lobe, which is the part of the brain that gives you the ability to make decisions. People who played action based games are 25% faster than others and no less accurate. According to another study it was found that the best gamers can make a decision and act upon them 6 times a second; which is 4 times faster than most people. Yet another study by college students showed that experienced gamers can pay attention to 6 things at once without getting confused compared with the 4 things people can keep in mind. There is also evidence that Video games can help with psychology problems. A scientist asked people with depression problems to play a video game called SPARX and many of them showed reduced depression. Another research team showed that playing Tetris shortly after a sad moment can actually prevent people from having horrible flashbacks. But video games aren’t always good. They can be bad. A research team found that violent games alter brain function within weeks of playing; affecting the part of the brain that controls emotion and causes anger. In the future we may see doctors treating people with depression with video games. After reading the evidence; what do you think? Are video games good? The Revolutionary War was a battle between the British (and King George), and the Americans, or the Continental Army.
King George and his army wanted to rule America, but the Americans wanted to be free of the British rule. The colonists felt that the laws that The British Parliament passed were unfair. For example, the Parliament passed a law called “The Quartering Act.” That law meant that the colonists had to look after the Redcoats (British soldiers.) If they didn’t obey the law, King George would make punishments, like being tarred and feathered. The Revolutionary War started in Lexington and in 1775. The war lasted until 1783 (eight long years of battle.) The British were armed with many weapons like muskets and bayonets (weapons like sharp blades). They had other weapons, too. The reason that the Continental Army won was not only because they were strong, but because they had a better motivation to win than the British Army. Their motivation was that they wanted freedom from the British and from those TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, laws! John Adams chose George Washington to lead the Continental Army in the War. Of course, John Hancock was not very happy about this. George Washington trained the Continental Army to fight together. He worked very hard to help the army and encouraged them to do their best so that America would earn their freedom. Although the British Army had more professional and experienced soldiers, the Continental Army had , more courage and strength to win over their freedom. But most of all, they had hope, that none of the Redcoats could have ever taken away. We Americans celebrate on July 4th, and it is to show appreciation to our forefathers, and to celebrate our freedom from British rule. July 4th is now known as Independence Day, when America finally achieved their independence! Did you know flying hoverboards are supposed to be popular these days? But somehow, they are not. Some people do have these flying hoverboards and they work perfectly! A French company named Zapata Racing, which makes hoverboards that are powered by water, had a man flying 35 miles per hour on a hoverboard. This is called The Flyboard air.
The Flyboard Air has 4 turbo-engines and flies itself in a similar way to a drone. The Flyboard Air has the ability to reach the speed of 92.3 miles per hour and fly 10,000 feet above water. The rider who rode the flyboard reached to the speed of 35 miles per hour in just 4 minutes.(source: the telegraph) According to The Telegraph, Franky Zapata, the chief of Zapata Racing said “My goal is to ride the clouds. I like snowboarding in powder, but I want to do it in a cloud. That’s my dream and I will do the best to realise it.” The Zapata Racing Team has been developing the Flyboard Air for four years. Franky Zapata has crashed the Zapata Racing company’s only board when it ran out of battery five seconds before landing. Franky Zapata said it would be ready to fly over land soon. “It’s impossible to ride it before you have a minimum of 50 or 100 hours in the original Flyboard with water,” said Franky Zapata. “If you want to try, you must have seven lives like a cat .” (source: the telegraph) Zapata Racing is making a more consumer friendly board. “ We can use technology to change the way people travel,” said Franky Zapata. “ We’ve finished research and development on a new project that will use the same kind of board and the same kind of technology, but will be much easier for the general public, for the army, or for security”. Frank Zapata says the consumer version of the Flyboard Air might have a seat to sit on. “If you want to ride the Flyboard Air you have to spend 100 hours on a water Flyboard, and then you have to learn how to use it for another 20 hours ,” said Franky Zapata. “The goal is to have something extremely small and extremely stable that you can take to go and buy your bread in the morning.” Zapata Racing is making a more consumer friendly board. If this project becomes a success, in the future we might have a flying hoverboard mania! |
