Super Bowl LI
By Jai
Because of the Super Bowl, millions will turn on their TVs at 6:30 on Sunday February 5th to see the New England Patriots face off against against the Atlanta Falcons. This game will be played in Houston, Texas, so it’s a shame that the Texans (Houston’s team) didn’t make it. They lost in the Divisional round 34-16 to the Patriots.
It’s the Pat’s 7th Super Bowl appearance and they are seeking their 4th Lombardi Trophy. The Lombardi trophy is the name of the trophy named after the Packers famous coach Vince Lombardi. This year was the Patriots 14th AFC championship game appearance, their 6th in a row. Some the star offensive players are Tom Brady (QB), Julian Edelman (WR), Chris Hogan (WR), and LeGarrette Blount (RB). Some of the star defensive players are Malcolm Butler (CB) Logan Ryan (CB), and Trey Flowers (DL). With most of their players playing, their star tight end Rob Gronkowski is not playing, thanks to a back injury in Week 12 against the Jets. He is considered one of the best Tight ends ever. He and Tom Brady are questionably the best QB-TE duos. The Patriots also have star kicker Stephen Gostkowski who has only missed 7 kicks in his career that started in 2006, though 5 of the misses were this season. The others were in 2006 and 2016.
On the other hand, the Falcons are celebrating their 2nd trip to the Super Bowl (the first was 1999-lost to the Broncos), after beating the Packers 44-21 in the NFC championship game. This year was only their 4th appearance in the NFC championship game but they made the most of it beating the Packers by 23. Fun Fact: I’m a Packers fan. Some of the offensive stars are Matt Ryan (QB), Julio Jones (WR), Devonta Freeman (RB), and Mohamed Sanu (WR). Some defensive stars are Jalen Collins (CB), and Dwight Freeney (DE). Many people think Matt Ryan will get MVP for his great work. Most of the Falcons Defenders are rookies of second year players. The Defense didn’t have a great start at the beginning of the season, but now they are pretty good. The Falcons offense has also got pretty hot.
Just so you know, most experts predict that the Patriots will win, and Tom Brady’s record against Matt Ryan is 2-0, so I think that the Patriots are on their way to winning their 4th Lombardi Trophy. But hey, you never know. I will be rooting for the Patriots because the Falcons beat the Packers and the Packers are my favorite team.

A Game At Madison Square Garden
By Kevin L.
It was a rainy day on Wednesday, November 9th, and the Knicks Arena was filled with many hopeful fans, all waiting for New York to show Brooklyn what they had in mind for them. The stadium had many blue jerseys, showing of Carmelo Anthony, Courtney Lee, Joakim Noah, Derrick Rose, and many people, along with me, had a Kristaps Porzingis jersey on. Porzingis, who is 7’3”, was only a rookie last year but clearly showed that he could play well, shooting nothing - but nets, three pointers; and slam dunking like nobody's business.
The Knicks started off on the wrong foot, losing the first quarter 29 - 19. In the second quarter, they made a bit of a comeback, still losing 55 - 50; not that bad. At the third quarter, Porzingis and Anthony make their move, 3-pointer after 3-pointer after 3-pointer for “Melo” Anthony, 3 point after dunk after 3 point for Porzingis, and that's when the Knicks got the lead 72 - 71 for the third quarter, and then the Knicks went on a rampage.
Nets tried pretty hard, but just couldn't keep up. Not even with Brook Lopez and Justin Hamilton trying their hardest; making many 2 pointers and 3 pointers. The Knicks literally killed the Nets 110 - 96, and the Nets fans all started leaving so they wouldn't watch their team lose. They really still no chance. At the end New York stands victorious, looming over their cross-town rival.
