Did you know flying hoverboards are supposed to be popular these days? But somehow, they are not. Some people do have these flying hoverboards and they work perfectly! A French company named Zapata Racing, which makes hoverboards that are powered by water, had a man flying 35 miles per hour on a hoverboard. This is called The Flyboard air.
The Flyboard Air has 4 turbo-engines and flies itself in a similar way to a drone. The Flyboard Air has the ability to reach the speed of 92.3 miles per hour and fly 10,000 feet above water. The rider who rode the flyboard reached to the speed of 35 miles per hour in just 4 minutes.(source: the telegraph) According to The Telegraph, Franky Zapata, the chief of Zapata Racing said “My goal is to ride the clouds. I like snowboarding in powder, but I want to do it in a cloud. That’s my dream and I will do the best to realise it.” The Zapata Racing Team has been developing the Flyboard Air for four years. Franky Zapata has crashed the Zapata Racing company’s only board when it ran out of battery five seconds before landing. Franky Zapata said it would be ready to fly over land soon. “It’s impossible to ride it before you have a minimum of 50 or 100 hours in the original Flyboard with water,” said Franky Zapata. “If you want to try, you must have seven lives like a cat .” (source: the telegraph) Zapata Racing is making a more consumer friendly board. “ We can use technology to change the way people travel,” said Franky Zapata. “ We’ve finished research and development on a new project that will use the same kind of board and the same kind of technology, but will be much easier for the general public, for the army, or for security”. Frank Zapata says the consumer version of the Flyboard Air might have a seat to sit on. “If you want to ride the Flyboard Air you have to spend 100 hours on a water Flyboard, and then you have to learn how to use it for another 20 hours ,” said Franky Zapata. “The goal is to have something extremely small and extremely stable that you can take to go and buy your bread in the morning.” Zapata Racing is making a more consumer friendly board. If this project becomes a success, in the future we might have a flying hoverboard mania!
