Millstone River has lots of different events like, School Spirit Days, the Book Fair & the School Supply Sale!
One of the School Spirit Days is Millstone River’s annual 4th grade Record Breakers! A great school activity that has 4th graders test their skills in all different kinds of events whether it’s indoor or outdoor. I hope all you fourth graders had a fun time at record breakers. Even if you didn’t break a record you tried your best and had fun and that’s what record breakers is all about. In addition, good job to people who did break a record. To name of few events there was the sit ups, soccer ball juggle, frisbee toss, and jump roping. We personally liked the Rope Climbing, Sit Ups, Soccer Ball Juggle & Word Jumble. Let me explain those events. The Soccer Ball Juggle is when you bounce the ball with your feet or thighs without letting it touch the ground. Sit Ups are when you lie on a mat, someone holds your feet and you lift the upper half of your body up and down and you count how many you can do in a minute and a half. Finally Rope Climbing is when you climb a rope as fast as you can to the top and then you can see how long it took you. Our absolute favorite part was the dancing at the end. So all of you third graders are in for a big treat next year and you guys are going to love it. We’re already so sad this our last time being there and experiencing this. The next event was the book fair. Isn't it nice to dig into a book? Well you can dig into a book there. And there’s no return date. You can just buy and keep the book to enjoy it over and over it again; especially since there are all new popular books there. But there are a variety of book; picture books to hard novels, activity books, pens, bookmarks, posters and much more stuff. In every classroom your teacher will give you Scholastic book orders. You can order using that & send it in an envelope to your teacher or you can order online on the Scholastic website using the SPECIAL code. Another event at Millstone is the School Supply Sale. School supply sales usually occur on School Spirit Days that vary which day they're on. All of the items in the sales are $2 and under. So cheap! You can buy the cutest little trinkets like changeable colored pencils , pencils, slime, erasers, pens and much more. All sales are during your lunch periods when you have finished your lunch.

In the year 2016 our country was faced with a presidential election. Presidential elections, founded back when our country was first born, gives citizens of the country the right to vote for their leaders. The reason that our founding fathers decided that we should have a democratic government is because we just fought so hard and lost so many lives to get rid of King George. They wanted to make sure that that loss wasn't all for nothing. In the present every four years we elect a new president. A president can only do two terms in their life.
This year we had the Democratic Party, the Republican Party and the libertarian party. For the Democratic party we had Hillary Clinton as our candidate in the final race. Hillary's husband, Bill Clinton, had already served for president and she wished to do the same. For the Republican party we had Donald Trump a wealthy businessman who decided to run for president. Gary Johnson ran for the libertarian party. He was the former Governor of New Mexico. Donald Trump turned out to be the president that will take office in January. This may be disappointing for females and Democrats Nationwide. Let's take a look at the positioning of which states who choose Democratic or Republican. Most of the states in the middle of the United States of America voted mainly for Donald Trump. I saw that lots of the small states up in the Northwest seem to vote for Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump won Texas and Florida both of which had a very high amount of electoral votes that they would give out to the candidate that won their state. Because he won both it gave him a great boost up to his 270 electoral votes needed and it turns out that he got 286 and Hillary Clinton only got 218. Some people worry about what will be in store for the country. Can we trust the rumors heard about Donald Trump? Will he be a good president or will he bring chaos to the country? Only time will tell whether we will prosper in the future |
